Lore & Trivia
Overview
Fisch is an open-world fishing adventure on Roblox, created by solo developer Nate (@WoozyNate) and released on October 5, 2024. Built over roughly four months during college, the game hit its stride fast — by late November 2024 it briefly overtook Blox Fruits as Roblox's top concurrent-user experience, and has since accumulated over 4.37 billion visits with an 89% positive rating.
The core goal is to catch fish, sell them to merchants for C$ (the in-game currency), reinvest into better rods, and travel to new locations. What sustains that loop is the scope underneath it: more than 400,000 possible fish variations, 17 distinct rarity tiers, a completable Bestiary that logs every species you've found, and a rod progression system that scales from a basic Flimsy Rod all the way to Stage 12 endgame weapons.
Last verified: April 20, 2026. Fisch is in active development — mechanics and balancing may change between updates.

How to Fish in Fisch
Every new player starts at Moosewood, where the tutorial NPC Pierre explains the basics. The fishing loop has three stages:
- Cast — equip a rod and hold the action button to build distance power, then release to drop the bobber into the water.
- Shake (optional) — tapping the on-screen Shake prompt reduces how long the fish takes to bite. It is entirely optional and does not affect what you catch, only the wait time.
- Minigame — when a fish bites, a progress bar appears. Hold the action button to push your indicator right; release to let it drift left. Keep it inside the white Fishing Bar zone until the meter fills to complete the catch.
Landing a Perfect Catch — where your indicator stays inside the zone for the entire minigame — rewards 1.5× XP and an extra 10 C$ on top of the fish's normal sale value. Chaining perfect catches early on is the fastest path to leveling through the tutorial zone.
Bait drops from most Crate types and increases the odds of attracting higher-rarity fish. Pairing the right bait with the right location is one of the two biggest levers for targeting specific species; the other is equipping a rod whose stats — luck, control, resilience, and weight limit — match what you want to catch.
Fish Rarity Tiers in Fisch
Fisch uses a 17-tier rarity chain. Higher tiers mean harder fishing minigames and better sell values. The progression from lowest to highest:
| Tier | Rarity |
|---|---|
| 1 | Trash |
| 2 | Common |
| 3 | Uncommon |
| 4 | Unusual |
| 5 | Rare |
| 6 | Legendary |
| 7 | Mythical |
| 8 | Exotic |
| 9 | Secret |
| 10 | Relic |
| 11 | Fragment |
| 12 | Gemstone |
| 13 | Extinct |
| 14 | Limited |
| 15 | Apex |
| 16 | Divine Secret |
| 17 | Special |
Most players complete tiers 1–8 through regular play across multiple locations. Tiers 9–17 require deliberate grinding in specific endgame zones, often paired with late-stage rods and location-matched bait. Limited fish are only available during seasonal or collaboration events (past examples include LEGO and Lootbloc crossovers).
Fisch Progression Path
Fisch progression centers on three interlinked resources: C$ (for buying gear and boats), rod stage (which governs weight limit and passive bonuses), and player level (which gates endgame content). A typical arc through the game:
- Finish the Moosewood tutorial — learn the cast, shake, and minigame loop; sell your first catch to unlock the Merchant system.
- Replace the Flimsy Rod — the starter rod caps catch weight heavily; finding an early upgrade is the first real bottleneck.
- Unlock a Boat — once you have enough C$, a Boat lets you leave Moosewood and reach other fishing zones, each with exclusive species for the Bestiary.
- Expand the Bestiary — catching each unique fish type logs it permanently and provides XP milestones and unlock rewards.
- Climb the rod stages — each stage tier adds new passives, higher luck, and increased weight limits that make higher-rarity fish reachable.
- Reach the Stage 12 endgame — the Fabulous Rod sits at Stage 12 and requires player level 1,000 plus submarine access to even start the quest. It is one of the hardest acquisition goals in the game. Follow the Fabulous Rod Guide for a detailed walkthrough.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Fisch free to play on Roblox?
Yes. The game is free to access. Core progression does not require Robux spending — all rods, locations, and Bestiary completion are achievable through in-game C$ earned by fishing.
What is the rarest fish in Fisch?
The highest rarity tier is Special, sitting above Divine Secret and Apex. These top-tier fish spawn only in specific endgame locations and generally require Stage 10+ rods and location-specific bait to target reliably.
How do I complete the Bestiary?
Fish every location in the game. Some species are zone-exclusive and only appear at specific times of day or during certain weather conditions. Using bait tuned to the target location's fish pool significantly shortens the grind. The day/night cycle in Fisch runs roughly 25–30 minutes per cycle in real time, so timing your sessions around weather events matters for rare spawns.
How do I get better rods?
Rods are obtained through C$ purchases from in-game shops, crafting systems, or NPC quest rewards. Stage gates determine the highest rods you can use effectively. For a full breakdown of every rod by tier, cost, passive, and acquisition method, see the Fisch Rods guide. You can also use active Fisch promo codes to earn free C$ and speed up your progression.
