Lore & Trivia

Overview

This tier list ranks every playable hero in Anime Overload based on their performance in late-game Nightmare story stages and Double Dungeon Raids. Rankings reflect raw DPS ceiling, utility, trait synergy, and overall versatility across all content types.

The meta is currently dominated by Secret-rarity heroes. Mythic heroes are accessible at 0.5% pull rates with a 150-pull pity threshold, while Secret heroes sit at an estimated 0.008% with an 8,000-pull pity. Prioritizing Mythic-tier carries is the practical early-game path; Secret-tier upgrades are long-term investments.

Tier Rankings Explained

TierMeaning
SSSAbsolute pinnacle — defines the current meta. These heroes can anchor any late-game lineup.
SStrong meta picks — excellent DPS or irreplaceable utility. Core components of top-tier rosters.
ASolid contributors — valuable situational picks or strong role-players in specific compositions.
BNiche or situational — usable but rarely optimal in competitive late-game content.
FarmNot for combat — dedicated to in-match economy generation. Essential regardless of tier.

SSS Tier — Absolute Pinnacle

The SSS tier holds the three highest-ceiling heroes in Anime Overload. Each one can single-handedly carry a defense grid, though they fulfill distinct strategic roles.

Strongest Alien (Burst)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic | Role: DPS

Why SSS: Strongest Alien defines what a hyper-carry looks like in the current meta. With a base damage of 3,460 scaling to 7,810 at max investment, a 65% critical hit chance, and a 2.80x critical multiplier, he outputs more consistent damage per second than any other hero in the game. His Passive 1 (Slight Difficulty) grants Crit Mult +0.5% per enemy on screen — stacking up to +60% in dense raid waves. Passive 2 (Full Strength) adds a further +0.4% damage per attack when he cannot one-shot an enemy, scaling to +200% in longer encounters. His Ultimate (Starfall Descent) delivers 350% of his current ability damage to every enemy on the map and grants +40% attack speed for 20 seconds, making it both a waveclear tool and an offensive steroid.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Voidborn > Nullshot

Team Role: Primary DPS anchor. Place at the first bend in the enemy path where he can maximize the number of targets hit by both passive stacking and the ultimate's full-map nuke.

Note: Does not one-shot extremely high-HP raid bosses without significant passive stacking. Build toward the ultimate before boss phases for maximum impact.

Sokono (Domain)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic, Fire | Role: DPS

Why SSS: Sokono combines raw damage output with debuff pressure that no other hero matches. His Passive 1 (Malevolent Finisher) grants Crit +10% per extra attack (max +40%) and applies a 30% Bleed that deals 125% of his ability damage per tick over 4 seconds — effectively doubling his sustained DPS against single targets. Passive 2 (Fear Incarnate) slows all enemies in range by 15%, and Passive 3 (King of Curses) grants complete immunity to all status effects and binds, making him resistant to boss crowd-control mechanics. His Ultimate (Malevolent Death) hits all enemies on the map for 265% damage, applies Bleed at 50% of ability damage per tick for 20 seconds, and slows by 25% for 15 seconds — making him both a burst nuke and a persistent damage-over-time engine.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Nullshot > Voidborn

Team Role: Sustained DPS + secondary burst. Place behind your primary tank line. His Bleed ticks continue dealing damage even after he switches targets or is stunned by raid mechanics.

Note: Bleed does not stack from multiple sources. If running multiple bleed heroes, only the highest-value Bleed applies.

Bald Hero (Saitama)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Physical | Role: DPS / Boss Specialist

Why SSS: Bald Hero occupies a unique position as the only SSS-tier hero specifically designed to counter bosses. His Passive 1 (Meh, Sure) gives +5% damage per attack when he cannot one-shot an enemy (max +30%), making him increasingly lethal against high-HP raid bosses. Passive 2 (Serious Effort) grants a flat +40% damage against bosses for 13.5 seconds on a 15-second cooldown — essentially uptime for most boss encounters. Passive 3 (Serious Consequences) is more conditional: he gains +2% Crit Mult per wave of continuous combat, stacking up to +200%, but resets after 20 seconds out of combat. His Ultimate (Ultra Serious Punch) deals 280% damage to all enemies, stuns non-boss enemies for 6 seconds, strips all shields, and ignores element disadvantage — making it one of the most versatile abilities in the game.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Rift-Edge > Radiant

Team Role: Boss-slayer and emergency waveclear. His Ultimate one-taps all standard enemies and significantly damages bosses. Place near the end of the path for maximum shield-stripping coverage.

Note: His low 0% base critical chance makes him heavily trait-dependent. Without Overloaded or a crit-boosting trait, his Passive 3 stacking is the only meaningful crit scaling path.

S Tier — Meta Dominators

S-tier heroes are the backbone of competitive rosters. They do not define the meta the way SSS does, but they are irreplaceable in well-optimized team compositions.

Crimson Queen (Dominant)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Dark | Role: DPS / Kill-Chain

Why S: Crimson Queen is a kill-chain specialist. Her Passive 1 (Adrenaline Rush) grants +3% damage per kill, stacking up to +60% — rewarding aggressive lineups that clear waves quickly. Passive 2 (Blood Lust) grants +120% critical chance under any status effect (including Bleed, Burn, and stun) and applies 25% Bleed on crits. Her Ultimate (Rite of Subjugation) delivers 450% ability damage — the highest single-hit multiplier of any Ultimate — plus Bleed at 50% per tick for 20 seconds. She snowballing in kill-rich environments makes her potentially outperform SSS-tier heroes in content with fast waveclear, but her reliance on kills to build momentum is a liability in slow-burning raid fights.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Nullshot > Voidborn

Best Use: Fast-paced stages and wave-dense raid phases where her kill-chain builds rapidly.

Red Hair (Conqueror)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic | Role: DPS + Control Hybrid

Why S: Red Hair brings both damage and crowd-control in one slot. His Passive 1 (Overwhelming Presence) triggers a 10–18% stun chance every 7 seconds against enemies in range, with enemies below 30% HP receiving a 55% stun chance. Passive 2 (Emperor's Cut) grants +36% damage and guarantees the next critical hit with +120% Crit Damage when an enemy is stunned by Overwhelming Presence. His Ultimate (Conqueror's Energy) slows enemy movement speed by 50% for 15 seconds, boosts his own damage by +350% for 25 seconds, and knocks back enemies 25 studs — giving him a self-buff profile that rivals SSS carries while providing the team's only reliable hard stun.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Nullshot > Grace

Best Use: Teams that lack hard crowd control. His guaranteed-crit-on-stun mechanic makes him a safe and consistent DPS engine in Nightmare content.

Streliana (True Maiden)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Fire, Physical | Role: DPS / Stacking Carry

Why S: Streliana scales with sustained combat time through multiple stacking mechanics. Passive 1 (Code:Franxx) gives ally attack speed -2.5%, Crit +2.5%, and 25% Bleed to nearby allies. Passive 2 (Infernal Reprise) grants +30% damage per 5 attacks — rewarding sustained single-target focus. Passive 3 (Iron Maiden) applies a 15% chain damage effect. Her Ultimate (Final Embrace — Orbital Collapse) deals 380% damage to all enemies on the map, applies Burn at 30% per tick for 20 seconds, and self-stuns her for 20 seconds — meaning her ultimate has a significant downtime cost.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Voidborn > Radiant

Best Use: Long-duration fights where her stacking mechanics reach full value. Her 20-second self-stun after the Ultimate makes timing critical.

Sosoke (RS)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic, Storm | Role: Control / Ground Lock

Why S: Sosoke is the best ground-control hero in the game. His capabilities include permanent Trance lock on ground enemies, Burn application, and shield stripping. He is repositionable, giving flexibility in team building that no other S-tier control hero matches.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Nullshot > Voidborn

Best Use: Maps with narrow ground paths where permanent Trance lock prevents any enemy from advancing past his position.

A Tier — Strong Carries

A-tier heroes offer genuine value but require specific team compositions or conditions to reach their full potential.

Goju (Unlimited)

Rarity: Secret | Element: True, Magic | Role: Control / Debuffer / Shield Strip

Why A: Goju fills a unique role as the game's premier shield-stripper and debuffer. Passive 1 (Infinity Disruptor) reduces all enemy buffs — including stage and game-mode buffs — by 30%. Passive 2 (Infinity Barrier) applies a slow that stacks up to 20% on all enemies in range, including bosses. Passive 3 (Limitless Break) lets him pierce any shield to deal damage, including boss shields. His Ultimate (Void Expansion) deals 255% damage to all enemies, stuns for 15 seconds, and strips all shields simultaneously — making him the most reliable answer to shield-heavy raid bosses. However, his damage output is modest compared to S or SSS DPS carries, which limits his standalone value.

Best Traits: Grace > Nullshot > Voidborn

Best Use: Mandatory in Double Dungeon Raids where enemy shields are common. Less essential in standard Story Mode where fewer enemies have shield mechanics.

Devil Knight (Berserk)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Dark, Physical | Role: Physical/Dark Enhancer

Why A: Devil Knight amplifies the Physical and Dark heroes on your team while providing solid personal DPS. His Berserk stacking mechanic rewards sustained combat, and he excels when paired with other Dark or Physical element units. However, he decreases damage for Magic element units in his range by 10% — making him a liability in mixed-element teams.

Best Traits: Overloaded > Voidborn > Radiant

Best Use: Pure Physical/Dark team compositions in Nightmare and Raid content. Avoid pairing with Magic element carries.

Susono (Susanoo)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic | Role: Support / Permanent Stun

Why A (but niche): Susono's value is almost entirely in his Passive 1 (Lightning Aura), which gives a 25% chance to apply electric stun to any enemy type — including shielded enemies and bosses. With a base damage of 1 and no significant personal DPS contribution, his place on this tier list rests entirely on his permanent crowd-control potential. His 20-base range is massive, and the stun effect can lock down entire map sections indefinitely with sufficient luck. He also generates meaningful in-match gold through the lightning aura mechanic, making him a hybrid farm-control pick.

Best Traits: Grace > Nullshot > Radiant

Best Use: Defensive maps with long enemy path segments where permanent lightning stun can be leveraged repeatedly.

B Tier — Situational

B-tier heroes have genuine uses but are rarely optimal in high-difficulty content. They may outperform higher tiers in very specific niche scenarios.

Death Surgeon (Operation)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Magic | Role: Control / Slow + Cripple + DOT

Why B: Death Surgeon applies Slow, Cripple, and Damage Over Time across wide areas. His control profile is strong in early-game content, but his damage ceiling does not keep pace with the scaling in Nightmare stages and Raids. He is best used as a budget control option while building toward A or S-tier heroes.

Greye (Frost)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Storm, Nature | Role: DPS / Freeze + Frostbite

Why B: Greye applies Freeze and Frostbite effects with a critical hit chance boost that scales with the right trait. However, his effectiveness is highly trait-dependent — without the correct trait, his damage and utility fall well below the A-tier threshold. In the right composition with high-crittrait coverage, he approaches A-tier performance, but the inconsistency keeps him ranked here.

Yono (Spirit)

Rarity: Secret | Element: Wind, Magic | Role: Support / Air Slow Specialist

Why B: Yono applies a 20% slow to all airborne enemies and a 50% slow to airborne bosses — making him a specialized counterpick against aerial-heavy stages. However, the majority of standard enemies in Story Mode and Raids are ground units, which limits his general applicability. He provides a useful Magic ally buff as a secondary effect, but his niche positioning keeps him in B tier.

Farm Tier — Essential Regardless of Tier

Eskanor

Rarity: Rare | Element: Neutral | Role: Farm / Economy

Why Farm Tier (but mandatory): Eskanor is the only dedicated Farm hero in Anime Overload. His max damage reaches 12,500 — high enough for him to contribute meaningfully in early and mid-game waves while generating the in-match gold needed to accelerate unit upgrades. Every competitive roster runs exactly one Farm hero; Eskanor is the only option that does this job. Not running a Farm hero in longer runs creates an insurmountable economy gap that no amount of raw DPS can compensate for.

Best Trait: Thrift > Radiant > Wisdom

Best Use: Always include in your 6-slot roster regardless of content. Prioritize placing him at a safe location on the map where he can attack consistently without dying.

Team Composition Guide

Standard Late-Game Nightmare/Raid Roster

SlotHeroRole
1Strongest Alien (Burst)Primary DPS
2Sokono (Domain)Secondary DPS + Bleed
3Bald Hero (Saitama)Boss specialist
4Goju (Unlimited)Shield strip + debuff

SSS/S-DPS-Carry-Focused Roster

Replace the control slots with additional DPS if the stage does not feature shields or heavy boss phases: Crimson Queen + Red Hair + Streliana provide a more aggressive profile at the cost of crowd control.

Trait Priority for Team-Wide Buffs

  • Overloaded — fits exactly one hero per match; choose your primary hyper-carry
  • Voidborn — preferred for all other damage slots since there is no placement restriction
  • Grace — best for support heroes (Susono, Goju) who rely on utility rather than raw damage

FAQ

Who is the best hero in Anime Overload?

Strongest Alien (Burst) is currently the best overall DPS hero in Anime Overload, with the highest sustained damage ceiling and a map-wide ultimate that dominates raid wave clear.

What is the best SSS team composition?

A standard SSS/S-carry roster runs Strongest Alien + Sokono + Bald Hero + Goju + Susono + Eskanor. This covers primary DPS, secondary DPS with Bleed pressure, boss damage, shield stripping, permanent stun control, and economy.

Is Crimson Queen or Strongest Alien better?

Strongest Alien wins for raw sustained DPS. Crimson Queen excels in kill-chain scenarios where consecutive kills let her passive stack to +60% damage. Choose based on content: Strongest Alien for boss phases and long fights, Crimson Queen for fast waveclear stages.

What is the best trait in Anime Overload?

Overloaded is the best damage trait due to its +250% damage amplification, but the one-per-team restriction means Voidborn is often preferred for maps requiring multiple strong units.

How often does the tier list change?

This tier list is updated after major balance patches. Check the Change Log for the date of the last full review.

Should I summon for Mythic or Secret heroes?

Both are valuable. Secret heroes are stronger but require approximately 400,000 Crystals to reach pity. Mythic heroes are accessible at 0.5% rates with a 150-pull (roughly 7,500 Crystal) pity — practical for most players to target. Use your Anime Overload codes Crystal Shard rewards to build toward the 150-pull Mythic pity threshold first.

Is Eskanor worth investing in?

Absolutely. Eskanor is the only dedicated Farm unit, making him essential for economy in all late-game content regardless of his low rarity tier.

Does element type affect tier placement?

Element type affects team composition more than individual tier placement. No single element is universally superior — each stage has elemental advantages. Build a diverse roster to handle different content types.
