Overview

Grand Blue's first hour has a correct order, and most new players get it backwards: they sail out, start questing, and only later discover the code box and the free fruit quest back in Anchor Town. Codes grant the reroll currencies that decide your race and traits, and the Calvin quest guarantees a Cursed Fruit within your first half hour — claim both before you grind anything.

Verified by Lucas Turner on August 31, 2026 at 16:30 UTC: I mapped this route against three independent Early Access walkthroughs published August 29–31, 2026 — two full beginner guides and one start-to-third-island playthrough — and cross-checked the code list against the two most recently maintained public lists. The level gates (30 for Clown Town, 70 for the third island), the party XP bonus (+3% per member, +15% cap), and the Calvin quest steps all appear in at least two independent sources.

The First-Hour Route

Step 1 — Redeem every code (before entering the world)

The code box sits on the title screen, not in any in-game menu: select Customize Character, use the Enter code field, and redeem. The current launch codes hand out Trait Rerolls, Race Rerolls, Fruit Chests, and Celestial Coins — the full verified list lives on the codes page. Early Access players also report 10 bonus rerolls for joining the Eternal Pose Roblox group and favoriting the game.

Step 2 — Roll your race and traits

Still in character creation, spend your rerolls here. You are rolling two separate systems:

  • Race — includes rare variants; Skypian is the current community favorite, Dwarf suits mining-focused play, and the Celestial variant is the ~0.1% chase roll.
  • Traits — five rarity tiers (Uncommon through Mythic) with only one storage slot. Aim for Epic or better before you start playing; do not burn every roll chasing a Mythic on day one.

Full breakdowns are on the Races & Traits page.

Step 3 — Claim your free Cursed Fruit from Calvin

Once you load into Anchor Town, find Almighty Calvin and accept the Wizards Apprentice quest: grab the Rusty Shovel below his platform, dig up the four marked objects at the wizard waypoints, and return for Calvin's Treasure — a guaranteed random fruit. If a dig spot will not register, hit it with Strong Punch and dig again.

Do not eat the fruit yet. Eating binds the fruit to your character with no documented way to remove it. Check the drop table and tier rankings first; if you pulled an Uncommon filler, you may prefer to hold it and keep hunting.

Step 4 — Level through Anchor Town to 30

  • Do the training-dummy tutorial — it teaches the combat bar (M1 light, M2 heavy, number-key skills) and pays out a skill scroll.
  • Work through the town's quest NPCs. Quests vary — deliveries, dig-ups, marine trouble — so follow the Logbook rather than camping one mob spawn.
  • Party up. Each party member adds +3% XP, up to +15% at five members. On a ten-player server, a full party is half the server.
  • A corrupt marine will offer to look the other way for 25 gold. Paying is faster than the alternative errand.
  • Pick up the Transponder Snail (100 gold) when offered — it is how quest-givers reach you off-island.

Step 5 — Spend stat points to match your build

Level-ups grant points across six stats. The short version: melee builds favor Strength, fruit builds favor Energy (fruit skills are reported to scale off it), gun builds favor Precision, and Agility buys mobility. Details on the Stats page.

Step 6 — Sail to Clown Town at 30

At level 30 the dock quest opens and you can spawn a boat — the starter rowboat is slow, so this is also when bigger hulls start to matter. Clown Town is the circus-themed second island with its own quest chain and the Buggy D. Clown boss fight; the third island opens around level 70 and ends in the Kuro raid. Boss mechanics are on the Bosses page.

Traps and Recovery

  • Ate a bad fruit? There is no confirmed removal method in Early Access. Your progress still saves per fruit, so keep playing — the hourly world spawns and chest bundles are the long-term fix.
  • Burned all rerolls on traits? Race Rerolls are the scarcer currency; future codes and updates are the realistic refill. Stop at Epic traits rather than zeroing out.
  • Dig spot bugged on the Calvin quest? Strong Punch the spot, then dig again.
  • Died to the island boss early? Island bosses are tuned above questing level — come back after your fighting-style training (the two style mentors in Anchor Town) instead of brute-forcing at quest level.

FAQ

What should I do first in Grand Blue?

Redeem all codes from the Customize Character screen on the title screen — before loading into the world. The rerolls and chests shape your whole account, and they are free.

How do I get my first Cursed Fruit in Grand Blue?

Complete Almighty Calvin's Wizards Apprentice quest in Anchor Town: four buried objects, a Rusty Shovel, and Calvin's Treasure as the reward. It is the only guaranteed fruit in the early game.

What level do I need for the second island in Grand Blue?

Level 30 for Clown Town. The third island opens around level 70.

Is it worth partying up in Grand Blue?

Yes — each party member adds +3% XP, up to a +15% cap. On ten-player servers, even a small party is a meaningful speed boost.

Should I eat the first fruit I get in Grand Blue?

Not immediately. Eating binds the fruit with no documented removal method. If it is an Uncommon (Spin or Cannon), consider holding it while you chase better pulls from chests or hourly spawns.

Where is the code redemption box in Grand Blue?

On the title screen: select Customize Character, and the Enter code field is inside the customization window.
