A run is a repeating heist loop stacked on top of a one-way road trip. Every crime raises your wanted level, and every border crossing triggers a fresh police dispatch on the other side.

Every dollar of progress comes from the same five-beat cycle, repeated until you are strong enough to commit to the border:

The crowbar is the run's turning point: it opens safes, ATMs, and cash registers, which pay far better than loose household items. Skipping fights matters as much as winning them — leaving the marked search area drops the pursuit and lets you keep driving.
The Road to Mexico
The escape runs south through three states before the final crossing. Each state line is a checkpoint, and driving through it charges everyone in the vehicle with illegally crossing — which means a police dispatch waits on the other side every single time.

Wanted Levels and Police Heat
Crimes raise a wanted level that caps at level 5. A high enough level triggers a dispatch and an active pursuit with a marked search zone; escaping the zone cools the chase. Two badges anchor the extremes of this system: FDI Most Wanted for reaching police level 5 (235,549 unlocks), and Hardened Criminal for escaping to Mexico while still at level 5 (37,481 unlocks).
Fuel is the silent partner of the wanted system. Running dry mid-chase strands the car, and a stranded car at level 3 or higher is usually a lost run. Top off at Exon stations before every border commit.
