Anime Expeditions trait reroll interface showing trait options and crystal cost

Traits are the single biggest performance lever for evolved units in Anime Expeditions. The right trait can turn a solid unit into a carry, while a poor trait leaves even a Mythic unit underperforming. This page lists all 17 traits, their roll odds, pity guarantees, tier rankings, and how to reroll efficiently.

Overview

Traits only apply to evolved units, which makes them a mid-to-late game optimization system. There are 17 traits in the pool, ranging from modest single-stat bumps to game-changing multipliers. Unbound, the best trait, adds +350% damage but has a 0.1% roll chance and a 1,500-roll pity guarantee. Knowing which traits to chase and when to stop rolling will save hundreds of Trait Crystals.

S+ Tier: Unbound

Unbound is the best trait in the game and the clear endgame target for any pure damage dealer. The +350% damage multiplier overwhelms every other option. The 0.1% roll chance means most players will hit pity at 1,500 rolls, so save Trait Crystals for units you plan to use long-term.

S Tier: Primordial, Forsaken, Draconic

These three traits stack multiple meaningful bonuses instead of boosting one stat.

  • Primordial is the most well-rounded, giving +35% damage, -15% SPA, and +20% range.
  • Forsaken powers critical builds with +35% crit chance and +35% crit damage.
  • Draconic specializes in damage-over-time teams with +50% DoT damage and a -10% unit cost reduction.

A Tier: Investor, Bolt, Precision 2, Optics

  • Investor belongs on farm units. A 25% income bonus on a dedicated Yen farmer accelerates your economy faster than any damage trait.
  • Bolt at -15% SPA is the best attack-speed trait if you cannot land Primordial.
  • Precision 2 doubles down on critical builds.
  • Optics has niche value on units that benefit from extended coverage.

B and C Tiers

B-tier traits are acceptable early-game placeholders. Limit Breaker at +15% damage is the best of the group. C-tier traits should be replaced as soon as you have spare Trait Crystals. Enlightenment is a special trap: it sounds useful for leveling, but it becomes worthless once a unit is max level.

How to Reroll Traits

  1. From the main lobby, enter the Upgrades room.
  2. Find the Trait Reroll station between the Evolve and Crafting stations.
  3. Select the evolved unit you want to reroll.
  4. Click Reroll to spend one Trait Crystal.

Holding the Reroll button activates Auto-Roll. Before using it, open the Filters menu and select which traits you want the auto-roll to stop on. This prevents the system from rolling past a valuable Forsaken or Primordial while you are away.

How to Get Trait Crystals

  • Map completion is the primary source.
  • Daily rewards provide a small steady trickle.
  • In-game mailbox occasionally delivers free crystals during updates and events.
  • Codes are the fastest free source.
  • Trait Crystal shop and Event shop sell additional rerolls on a rotating basis.

When to Stop Rolling

For new players, follow this priority:

  • Early game: Any B-tier trait is fine. Do not burn crystals chasing S-tier before you have a stable team.
  • Mid game: Put Investor on your farm unit first, then target Primordial or Forsaken on your main damage dealers.
  • Late game: Save everything for Unbound on your best carries.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best trait in Anime Expeditions?

Unbound is the best trait, granting +350% damage at a 0.1% roll chance with a 1,500 pity guarantee.

How do I unlock traits?

Traits only apply to evolved units. You must evolve a unit first, then use the Trait Reroll station in the Upgrades room.

Can I get traits without spending Robux?

Yes. Trait Crystals drop from map completion, daily rewards, the mailbox, codes, and in-game shops.

Is Enlightenment a good trait?

No after early leveling. The +50% EXP gain is useful while leveling a unit, but it provides zero combat benefit once the unit is max level.

What is pity in trait rolling?

Pity guarantees a specific trait after a set number of rolls. Unbound has the highest pity at 1,500 rolls, while Draconic pity is 300.
