Lore & Trivia
Overview
Abilities are the core combat identity in Anime Apocalypse. Each ability set maps five skills to keyboard inputs — Z, X, C, V, and G (Ultimate) — and defines how a player deals damage against zombies across Raid, Survival, and Infinite modes. There are currently 14 ability sets spanning every tier from starter Commons to ultra-rare Supreme, with higher rarity abilities featuring stronger base damage and more impactful skill effects. The V-skill typically unlocks at Mastery 100 and often defines whether an ability reaches its endgame potential.

S-Tier Abilities
S-tier abilities dominate endgame content and scale exceptionally well at high Mastery.
Coyote
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Mythic Ability Spin |
| Tier | S |
| Best For | Raid, Survival (M100) |
Skill Set:

|---|---|---|
| Z | Coyote Bite | Primary damage skill |
| X | Trick Step | Mobility / repositioning |
| C | Predator Stalk | Utility / tracking |
| V | Pack Hunt | Unlocks at Mastery 100; transforms the kit into a screen-clearing powerhouse |
| G | Coyote (Ultimate) | High-impact ultimate |
Coyote starts out weaker than Saiyan and Pride at base Mastery but becomes arguably the strongest ability in the game once Pack Hunt unlocks. Its V-skill delivers massive AoE damage that dominates Raid encounters and late Survival waves.
Pride
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Mythic Ability Spin |
| Tier | S |
| Best For | All modes at all Mastery levels |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Pride Strike | Primary fire damage |
| X | Roaring Slash | Extended melee range |
| C | Sin Aura | Defensive buff / aura |
| V | Lion's Roar | Heavy burst damage |
| G | Pride (Ultimate) | Full transformation ultimate |
Pride is the most consistent S-tier option. It performs excellently at both Mastery 0 and Mastery 100 with no major weaknesses. Fire-based damage bypasses certain boss damage-reduction phases, making it a top pick for Raid content.
Saiyan
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Supreme |
| How to Get | Supreme Ability Spin (0.1% drop rate) |
| Tier | S |
| Best For | All modes, team utility |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Ki Blast | Ranged energy projectile |
| X | Charge Up | Buff / resource generation |
| C | Kamehameha Wave | Signature beam attack |
| V | Spirit Bomb | High-damage charge attack |
| G | Super Saiyan (Ultimate) | Transformation with invincibility frames |
Saiyan provides unmatched utility through its Super Saiyan ultimate, which grants invincibility frames useful for reviving teammates in World Five content. It is one of the best abilities at all Mastery levels and its buff can be popped and switched to another ability for maximum efficiency.
Head of Hei
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Hei Questline |
| Tier | S |
| Best For | Raid (boss damage), combo setups |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Hei Strike | Fast combo opener |
| X | Bloodletting | Sustained damage over time |
| C | Cursed Binding | Crowd control / freeze |
| V | Domain Break | Massive boss damage |
| G | Head of Hei (Ultimate) | Full combo execution |
Head of Hei offers exceptional combo potential with freeze and lock mechanics. It is one of the best Raid abilities due to high boss damage on V and strong overall mobility. The questline unlock makes it a guaranteed attainable S-tier for dedicated players.
A-Tier Abilities
A-tier abilities are strong alternatives that excel in specific contexts but lack the universal dominance of S-tier.
Shadow Monarch
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Raid Drop / Mythic Spin |
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Infinite mode (M100) |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Shadow Spear | Ranged shadow projectile |
| X | Arise | Shadow army summon |
| C | Monarch's Domain | Area buff / control |
| V | Igris Summon | Powerful shadow summon |
| G | Shadow Monarch (Ultimate) | Army-wide empowerment |
Shadow Monarch is the undisputed king of Infinite mode thanks to its shadow summons that scale with every kill. At low Mastery it falls behind other Mythics in raw DPS, making it a heavy investment with a massive late-game payoff.
Destructive Fists
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Raid Shop / Mythic Spin |
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Consistent all-mode damage |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Heavy Punch | Single-target burst |
| X | Combo Strike | Multi-hit melee |
| C | Ground Slam | AoE knockdown |
| V | Serious Punch | High-damage finisher |
| G | Destructive Fists (Ultimate) | Full-power strike |
Destructive Fists delivers more consistent damage than Shadow Monarch and thrives at all Mastery levels. Its close-range nature becomes a liability against explosive mobs, keeping it firmly in A-tier rather than reaching S-tier status.
Atomic
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| How to Get | Raid Shop / Dungeon Drop |
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Dungeons, fast clears |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Atomic Slash | Fast blade attack |
| X | Focus Slice | Precision strike |
| C | Concentration | Buff / charge |
| V | Atomic Barrage | Multi-hit AoE |
| G | Atomic (Ultimate) | Full-area blade storm |
Atomic excels at AoE DPS for group clearing. It performs decently across all modes but does not dominate any single one. The V-skill delivers amazing AoE damage, making it a strong farming and dungeon choice.
B-Tier Abilities
B-tier abilities are viable for progression and early grinding but lack the ceiling of higher tiers.
Sosuke
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Epic |
| How to Get | Ability Shop / Epic Spin |
| Tier | B |
| Best For | Beginners, M0 carry |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Cero Blast | Ranged energy blast |
| X | Sonido Dash | Mobility dash |
| C | Hollow Mask | Defensive buff |
| V | Resurreccion | Transformation |
| G | Sosuke (Ultimate) | Full power release |
Sosuke is the ultimate beginner ability. Its Cero Blast delivers massive damage burst with excellent range, outperforming several Mythics at Mastery 0. However, it lacks the late-game multipliers of higher-tier abilities and should be treated as a transitional tool while grinding toward a Mythic main.
C-Tier Abilities
C-tier abilities are mid-tier options that serve as stepping stones.
Fire Fighter
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Legendary |
| How to Get | Battle Pass |
| Tier | C |
| Best For | Mid-tier DPS |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Flame Punch | Fire melee strike |
| X | Burning Combo | Multi-hit fire attack |
| C | Inferno Roar | AoE fire burst |
| V | Phoenix Rise | Revival / burst skill |
| G | Fire Fighter (Ultimate) | Full fire transformation |
Fire Fighter is a dependable mid-tier DPS option exclusive to the Battle Pass. It functions adequately across most content but is outdamaged by every Mythic and Supreme option above it.
King of Curses
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Legendary |
| How to Get | Legendary Ability Spin |
| Tier | C |
| Best For | Mid-tier option |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Cleave | Wide slash attack |
| X | Domain Expansion | Area control |
| C | Cursed Strike | Cursed energy hit |
| V | Malevolent Shrine | High-damage domain |
| G | King of Curses (Ultimate) | Full cursed power |
King of Curses is the weakest Legendary ability. Its animations feel rigid and movement is clunky compared to other options. It outperforms Epics and Rares but should be replaced by a Mythic as soon as possible.
D-Tier Abilities
D-tier abilities are beginner or starter options that should be replaced immediately.
Nen Prodigy
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Epic |
| How to Get | Ability Shop / Epic Spin |
| Tier | D |
| Best For | Early-game stepping stone |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Ren Punch | Basic energy strike |
| X | Ko Combo | Two-hit combo |
| C | Zetsu Cloak | Stealth / defense |
| V | Hatsu Burst | Energy release |
Nen Prodigy is a brief stepping stone for new players. It provides a sufficient stat bump to escape the absolute bottom but is rapidly power-crept by Legendary and Mythic options.
Zorro
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Rare |
| How to Get | Ability Shop / Starter |
| Tier | D |
| Best For | Starter only |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Three Sword Style | Triple blade attack |
| X | Onigiri | Charge slash |
| C | Tatsumaki | Spinning attack |
| V | Asura | Multi-arm form |
Zorro features narrow hitboxes and no meaningful stat synergies. It is completely outclassed in damage from the moment you start and should be replaced as soon as any Epic or higher ability becomes available.
Ninja
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Rare |
| How to Get | Ability Shop |
| Tier | D |
| Best For | Mobility-focused beginner |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Shuriken Throw | Ranged projectile |
| X | Smoke Step | Dash / reposition |
| C | Shadow Clone | Decoy summon |
| V | Substitution | Defensive swap |
Ninja is mobility-focused but suffers from a low damage ceiling. Every higher-tier option outperforms it in both damage and utility.
Blade
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Common |
| How to Get | Starter (default) |
| Tier | D |
| Best For | Default starting option |
Skill Set:
| Key | Skill Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Z | Slash | Basic sword swing |
| X | Heavy Slash | Charged attack |
| C | Spin Attack | AoE spin |
| V | Finishing Blow | Execute strike |
Blade is the default starter ability with no special effects. It exists only to teach basic combat before players acquire their first gacha ability. Replace immediately.
Mastery System and Damage Scaling
Every ability has an independent Mastery track from 0 to 100. Mastery is earned by killing zombies with that ability equipped.
| Milestone | Unlock |
|---|---|
| Mastery 25 | Walking Speed Boost |
| Mastery 50 | Damage Boost |
| Mastery 75 | Massive Damage Boost |
| Mastery 100 | V-Skill Unlocked |
The V-skill is typically the most powerful ability in a kit and often transforms how the ability performs in endgame content. Coyote's Pack Hunt, Shadow Monarch's Igris Summon, and Saiyan's Spirit Bomb are prime examples of V-skills that redefine an ability's viability.
Mastery is saved per ability. Switching from a M100 Coyote to a M0 Pride does not erase Coyote's progress.

FAQ
How many abilities are in Anime Apocalypse?
There are currently 14 abilities in the game: 1 Common, 2 Rare, 2 Epic, 3 Legendary, 5 Mythic, and 1 Supreme.
What is the best ability for beginners?
Sosuke is the best starting ability. Its Cero Blast delivers massive damage with excellent range and it outperforms several Mythics at Mastery 0. Use it to grind early content while working toward a Mythic-tier main.
Which ability is the rarest?
Saiyan is the rarest ability with a 0.1% drop rate from the Supreme Ability Spin. It is the only Supreme-tier ability in the game.
Does every ability have a G-skill (Ultimate)?
Most Mythic and higher abilities feature a dedicated G-skill Ultimate. Lower-tier abilities (Common, Rare, and some Epic) may lack a distinct Ultimate and instead rely on their V-skill as their highest-impact move.
How long does Mastery 100 take?
Mastery 100 requires thousands of zombie kills with a single ability equipped. Efficient farming in Survival or Infinite mode typically takes 8–15 hours of dedicated grinding depending on wave density and kill speed.
Should I grind Coyote or Shadow Monarch first?
Grind Coyote if you primarily play Raid and Survival. Its M100 Pack Hunt transforms it into one of the strongest abilities in the game. Grind Shadow Monarch if Infinite mode is your focus, as its shadows provide unmatched scaling there.
Can I switch abilities without losing Mastery?
Yes. Mastery is saved independently for each ability. You can switch freely without losing any progress.
