Unscathed NPC Guide: Locations, Merchants & Spawn Timers
Complete Unscathed NPC guide with merchant locations, spawn timers, and shopping priorities. Find the Dark Arts Merchant, Innkeeper, Traveler, Flow, Sensei, and more.
Guide Details
Overview
Several NPCs around the Unscathed hub determine how fast you progress. The Dark Arts Merchant sells the strongest luck potions but has a low spawn chance, while trainers and travel NPCs unlock combat and expedition options. Knowing each location and spawn condition keeps you from leaving free power on the table.
This guide is a data reference plus page: a quick lookup table for every important NPC, plus interpretation rules for the one random spawn merchant that trips up new players. Last verified on August 11, 2026.
Verified by Olivia Bennett on August 11, 2026 at 13:30 UTC: Cross-referenced public beginner guides, community NPC lists, and official Discord reveals. NPC names, locations, and the Dark Arts Merchant spawn behavior were consistent across independent sources.

Dark Arts Merchant Spawn Mechanics
The Dark Arts Merchant is the only NPC with a random spawn. He appears on the right side of the waterfall with a 10% chance every 30 minutes. This means most of the time he is not there, and waiting at the waterfall is usually not worth it.
Best practices:
- Check the waterfall every time you load into a server.
- If you need his stock urgently, server hop until you find him.
- Do not plan your entire play session around his spawn timer.
- Buy Destiny Potions for one-shot high-luck rolls and Element Potions before a biome-specific session.
Dark Arts Merchant Potions
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Fate Potions | Variable luck outcome; can swing high or low |
| Destiny Potions | Massive one-roll luck boost |
| Element Potions | Pushes rolls toward a specific element |
Early NPC Route
Use this order during your first session to avoid backtracking:
- Flow — Spend starting Shards on gem upgrades or trait rerolls.
- Innkeeper — Buy any cheap heal potions or materials you can afford.
- Dark Arts Merchant — Check the waterfall for premium potions.
- Traveler — Unlock Badlands expedition access.
- Sensei — Visit once you are ready to enter the dojo.
- Shard NPC — Return near the battle teleporter when you have more Shards.
This route moves from permanent upgrades to consumables to travel unlocks, then to combat training.
NPC Shopping Tips
Flow
Prioritize gem upgrades that match your current best aura element. A Water gem in Monsoon is worth more than a mismatched higher-tier gem.
Innkeeper
Heal potions are cheap and valuable for story mode. Buy a small stack before pushing a new act.
Dark Arts Merchant
Destiny Potions are best used on a single high-value roll, not spammed. Save them for when the active biome matches the element you want.
Traveler
Unlock Badlands access as soon as it is offered. Expeditions become a major passive income source once you have spare auras.
Sensei
Do not invest heavily in dojo training until you have at least one viable combat aura. Early dojo losses teach matchups but do not reward much.
